International Overdose Awareness Day is a global event held on August 31 each year and aims to raise awareness of overdose and reduce the stigma of a drug-related death. The CCDC holds a local event every year at Peoples Natural Gas Park.

“Recovery in the Valley,” is a family-friendly event to celebrate those in recovery, to aid those who are still struggling, and to bring together organizations with the focus of helping Cambria County residents. While promoting the message that recovery in all its forms is possible.
In this free training you will learn about substance use disorders and how it happens, how to properly administer nasal Narcan and ways to spot an overdose, local drugs in Cambria County (xylazine, carfentanil, over the counter drug risks, etc.), how to help someone struggling with a substance use disorder, Compassionate Outreach for Recovery bags (COR bags) created for those in active addiction, leave with free Narcan/COR bag and much more!
