Presented by:  Persad Center

This is a 6-hour training designed to increase knowledge of the sexual identity and gender identity continuums beyond the binary.   The training is structured to assist the participant in learning a set of definitions that are appropriate for assessing and interacting with the LGBTQ client, and the importance of using preferred name and pronoun. Participants in the training are also asked to confront myths and prejudices regarding gender and orientation and gain an understanding regarding how issues of homophobia, gender phobia and heterosexism affect the LGBTQ person and the worker trying to assist them. Participants will consider strategies to improve LGBTQ consumer experiences in receiving services.
